Undergraduate Awareness Programme on Poultry Sector

An awareness programme on the poultry sector was organized by the Veterinary Medical Education Unit in collaboration with the Sri Lankan branch of the World’s Poultry Science Association (WPSA) for veterinary undergraduates of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Science. The programme was held on Thursday, 13th of December, 2018 at the auditorium of the Department of Farm Animal Production and Health.
The resource persons were the president of WPSA, Dr. Prabhath Samarathunga- the Regional Manager - Technical and Sales- South Asia for Zagro Singapore (Pvt) Ltd and Dr. Susantha Mallawaarachchi, Director- Hayleys Agro Farms. The broad topics of carrier opportunities in the Poultry Sector and the way of becoming the most desirable job candidate in the private sector were subjected for discussion. This was a successful awareness programme with the participation of more than 200 veterinary undergraduates fulfilling a timely requirement of carrier guidance to serve the nation as competent veterinary professionals in future
