Microbiology and Molecular Diagnostics Laboratory Veterinary Teaching Hospital

The Veterinary Microbiology and Molecular Diagnostic Laboratory based at Veterinary Teaching Hospital, University of Peradeniya, provides a range of diagnostic services including culture, isolation and identification of aerobic bacteria and clinically important fungi, antimicrobial susceptibility testing and molecular diagnosis of viral and bacterial diseases. We process a range of clinical samples from companion, wild and zoo animals. All the laboratory procedures are conducted according to the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) under the supervision of an experienced microbiologist.

Mission

Our mission is to provide quick and reliable diagnostic service for the Veterinary Teaching Hospital and other veterinary practices around the country and to facilitate the clinical teaching-learning process.
