Faculty Level Quality Assurance Cell

Quality Assurance and Accreditation Council (QAAC) is one of the standing committees of UGC. Under the directive of QAAC, each university was asked to establish their own Quality Assurance Unit (UQAU).
In 2004, the VC of the University of Peradeniya established 3 directorates (Academic Affairs, Students’ Welfare and International Research).
UQAU of University of Peradeniya was established under the director of Academic Affairs (D/AA)
Mandate of this unit initially was to train the staff to write self-evaluation report and prepare them for external subject/ program reviews. Under the guidance of the D/AA, each faculty established Faculty Level Quality Assurance Cell (FLQAC). With the concurrence of the Faculty Board, Dean appointed 4 members were appointed for the FLQAC .
At the first meeting with the faculty representatives, Director (AA) as the chair person, TOR was developed. Those included funds and facilities for the cell, Action plan, Set-up guidelines for the FQAC, Preparation of SER, etc.
Workshop was held to train the staff on writing SER and prepare for External Subject/program reviews.
Few staff members of the faculty were trained as reviewers too.
