            - 	Function as a national reference centre for the diagnosis of fresh water fish diseases.
 
- 	Provide services on the diagnosis and treat¬ment of fish diseases to the general public.
 
- 	Our routine functions include:
- Isolation and identification of bacterial, viral and fungal pathogens
 
- 	Antimicrobial susceptibility testing
 
- 	Parasiatological investigations
 
- Pathological investigation of fish dise-ases by necropsy and histopathology
 
- 	Water quality testing
 
 
- Investigation of disease outbreaks in the field and provide necessary recommendations/ advice on the treatment, prevention and con¬trol of fresh water fish diseases.
 
- 	Investigation of fish kills in natural fresh water bodies and recommend remedial measures to prevent such events.
 
- 	Provide training on aquatic animal health management to;
- Veterinarians and veterinary under-graduates
 
- 	Aquaculturists and extension officers
 
- 	Undergraduates specializing in aquacul¬ture
 
- 	Fresh water fish farmers

- Conduct research on the health management
