International Relations Office together with DAAD Information Center, Colombo and Postgraduate Institute of Science, University of Peradeniya, is organizing an Information Session on Higher Study Opportunities in Germany to be held as follows:

Date: 29 July 2020

Time: 2.00 p.m. – 4.00 p.m.

This session is targeted for final year students at the University of Peradeniya who wish to study in Germany for Master and PhD degrees.

The Embassy of the People's Republic of China has offered the Chinese Ambassador's Scholarships to undergraduates at Sri Lankan Universities for the year 2020-
In this year, each nominated students will be awarded a one - time payment of Rs. 50,000/- under this programme.
Under the above scholarship programme, 10 scholarships have been allocated to your University and therefore, you are kindly requested to nominate excellent students to award of above scholarships. Further note that, please follow the selection criteria which is attached with this letter. (Annex I) when selecting suitable candidates from your University.

The Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan is offering 1000 Allama lqbal Scholarships to Sri Lankan students over a period of 5 years under the Pak-Sri Lanka Higher Education Cooperation Program. The scholarships provide an opportunity for Sri Lankan students to visit Pakistan and pursue undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral degree programs in Engineering Sciences, Basic & Natural Sciences and Social Sciences.
The scholarships offer full tuition fee, accommodation allowances, study allowances and one-time return air ticket. The program is open to candidates from any background, and female candidates are particularly encouraged to apply. Selected candidates will study in top ranked Pakistani universities.
At a meeting with Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa at Temple Trees today (June 26), the High Commissioner of Pakistan in Sri Lanka Major General (Retd) Muhammad Saad Khattak updated the Prime Minister on the status of the program.
High Commissioner Khattak also informed the Prime Minister of a proposal to have "street libraries" in Colombo. Prime Minister welcomed the idea and also requested the Pakistani High Commission to consider mobile libraries for the other provinces around the country where students find greater difficulty in accessing educational resources.
The discussion also focused on how Sri Lanka and Pakistan can further strengthen and intensify collaborations on counterterrorism by sharing information and experiences. The High Commissioner said Pakistan would be willing to help said, "We will extend all possible support."

Applications are invited from citizens of Sri Lanka for the selection of suitable candidates to be nominated for postgraduate scholarships offered by the Government of Japan.
General eligibility requirements:

  • Applicant should be born on or after April 2, 1986
  • Should possess a Bachelor’s Degree with a Second Class Lower Division or above in the relevant field of study from a recognized university and a relevant Master’s degree for Ph.D. studies.
  • Should be employed in a Ministry/Department/University/State Sector or Private Sector Institution.
  • No application will be entertained from a person holding a temporary/casual/contractual appointment or a person who is unemployed. Only permanent and confirmed employees will be considered for the scholarships.
  • Employees on probation in the Universities are eligible to apply, provided that his/her confirmation is conditional upon acquiring a specified postgraduate qualification.

  • Scholarship benefits:
  • Airfare to Japan and back on completion of studies.
  • A monthly allowance of 143,000 yen - 145,000 yen per
  • Approved tuition and examination fees.
  • A supplemental regional allowance of 2,000 or 3,000 yen
